It would mark the Duchess of Sussex’s first role in a movie since she quit her role in the legal drama, “Suits,” eight years ago for royal life.
Now, royal experts have shared why Meghan Markle’s return to acting has been embraced by her husband, Prince Harry.

Meghan Markle’s Return To Acting Brings ‘Relief’ To Prince Harry, Expert Claims
Harry is reportedly feeling a sense of relief as Meghan returns to acting with a small role in the upcoming film “Close Personal Friends.”
According to royal commentator Kinsey Schofield, the Duke of Sussex is likely happy that his wife is busy on set, giving them both space from constant social media attention.
“If Meghan is on set, it means she’s not at home filming intimate moments to share on social media,” Schofield told Daily Mail. “Harry goes out of his way to give Meghan what she wants and has from day one. Plus, happy wife… happy life.”
The film, directed by Jason Orley and written by “This Is Us” creator Isaac Aptaker, centers on two couples, one famous and one not.

The Duke Of Sussex Wants His Wife To Do ‘Whatever Brings Her Joy’
A production insider previously told The Sun that Meghan’s new role marks an important step in returning to the craft she loves.
“This is a massive moment for Meghan and signifies a return to doing what she truly loves. She has been swamped with offers, but this one felt right,” the source said. “It is Meghan’s way of gently putting her toe back in the water and seeing how she enjoys being back on set.”
Harry, for his part, is being “really supportive” as he “quite simply wants Meghan to do whatever brings her joy,” the source added.
In his autobiography “Spare,” Harry recalled watching some of Meghan’s earlier performances with his characteristic humor.

“I’d witnessed her and a castmate mauling each other in some sort of office conference room. It would take electric shock therapy to get those images out of my head,” he wrote.

Meghan Markle Opens Up About Hollywood Struggles
“Close Personal Friends” marks a notable return to acting for Meghan, who stepped back from her career after marrying Harry in 2018.
Since then, she’s launched her lifestyle brand As Ever and debuted the Netflix show “With Love, Meghan,” with Harry even making a cameo.
Earlier in June, Meghan opened up about the challenges she faced as a young actress navigating Hollywood’s limited roles for mixed-race actresses.
On Emma Grede’s podcast, she explained that early in her career, she was often cast as the “girl next door” or considered for roles with a vague ethnic background.
“I’d be submitted for those roles and I also, to a lot of people in casting, they thought I was Latina,” Meghan recalled. “It was a numbers game. If I’m only up for 10 parts, that could be 10 nos, but if I’m up for 30 parts because I can fit into so many different rooms, that could be 30 nos. That is a lot to chip away that is a lot to chip away at your self-esteem – that is really hard.”
She reflected on how the industry’s narrow expectations for appearance, blond-haired, blue-eyed “girl next door” types made auditioning especially difficult.

Meghan Markle’s New Film Could Help Her Gain Relevance In Hollywood, Expert Claims
Meanwhile, British royal commentator Hilary Fordwich told Fox News Digital that Meghan’s cameo in the upcoming film is a “vanity project.”
She suggested the duchess is making a strategic shift in response to her declining popularity.
According to Fordwich, Meghan’s standing in both Hollywood and the U.K. has weakened, and this role could be an attempt to regain relevance.
“It’s highly doubtful U.K. audiences or the royal family will care about this latest move,” Fordwich noted, adding that they’re probably just relieved she isn’t using this project to take aim at them.
News Of The Duchess’s Cameo Role May Have Overshadowed Prince William’s Earthshot Event
Royal expert Kinsey Schofield offered a different perspective, claiming the palace likely noticed Meghan’s return to the spotlight, and not necessarily with approval.
She pointed out that news of Meghan’s film appearance broke while Prince William was in Brazil for the Earthshot Prize, an overlap she believes wouldn’t go unnoticed.
“Meghan drawing headlines away from Prince William’s high-profile event will not go unnoticed by the palace,” she said. “The pattern of Harry and Meghan retreating from the spotlight for months, only to reemerge during William’s major moments, is something his team is acutely aware of.”
