Taylor Swift Gives Moving Speech With Intimate Details At Selena’s Wedding

Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez‘s decades-long friendship was on full display this weekend, and Swift’s heartfelt speech at the latter’s wedding to Benny Blanco proves their bond is stronger than ever. Sources close to the couple have confirmed that the “Cruel Summer” singer was in attendance for both the wedding and the rehearsal dinner the night before. Swift’s involvement with her best friend’s wedding comes at a particularly noteworthy time, as she recently became engaged to NFL superstar Travis Kelce.

A source close to the newlyweds confirmed to Us Weekly that Swift not only attended the wedding but also gave an “extremely heartfelt” speech filled with intimate details about their friendship.

“Taylor gave an extremely heartfelt speech at the wedding,” the source explained. “She went into depth and talked about how over the years she saw Selena on the floor crying, mentioning exes, Selena having a broken heart, and saying how happy she is that Selena has Benny now.”

Swift further acknowledged Gomez and Blanco’s special bond, calling it a “best friend’s dream for her best friend to find someone like Benny” before gushing about how “happy” she is for the former Disney star.

Swift’s moving speech at Gomez’s wedding will come as no surprise to longtime fans of the two superstars, as they’ve been as thick as thieves since the early 2000s.

According to a detailed report from PEOPLE, the pair first met in 2008 when they were both dating Joe and Nick Jonas from The Jonas Brothers.

“We actually dated the Jonas Brothers together! It was hysterical,” Gomez said in 2017. “It was amazing, because [Taylor] was the girl with the big curly hair and all the bracelets and the cowboy boots. And I was definitely up-and-coming, and we just clicked. It was the best thing we got out of those relationships.”

“Flown in because I was hurt and was going through something. Stuff that was going on with my family. It’s been proven year after year and in every moment of my life that she is one of my best friends in the world. We don’t agree on everything, but we respect each other with everything,” she continued.

The buzz around Swift’s wedding speech is amplified by the fact that the pop star recently got engaged herself to Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. The pair announced their engagement in August 2025, sparking a frenzy not only in the pop culture zeitgeist but also in the NFL.

Andy Reid, Kelce’s head coach, boasted about the iconic couple on August 29 and wished them well on their journey together, per The Blast.

“I’m happy for them,” he said. “It’s hard to find somebody that you fall in love with. That’s not an easy thing, to really fall in love. And it seems like they’re there. I think it’s a great deal for both of them.”
