Miguel Revisits Failed Marriage to Nazanin Mandi With Bitter Truth

Miguel is reopening the chapter on his failed marriage to Nazanin Mandi, as he finally tells the truth about why their relationship ended.

This comes after the former couple concluded their 17-year relationship, a marriage that ended quietly and without children.

Despite the painful separation, Miguel is moving forward with his personal life. The singer recently celebrated the first birthday of the child he welcomed with Margaret Zhang, publicly confirming their daughter for the very first time.

Nearly three years after the discreet end of their long-term relationship, Miguel is now more honest about why the marriage couldn’t survive.

During an appearance on the latest episode of “Club Shay Shay,” the singer opened up about the emotional and personal struggles that led to their divorce, admitting that he “wasn’t whole.” 

The 40-year-old explained, “I’m not saying that I’m like, ‘Oh my God, I got all the answers now,’ but even being able to say and admit that I’m not whole… it completely changes the way that I approach things.”

He revealed that he was heavily career-focused and not mentally prepared to be in a committed relationship.

Miguel admitted that he “didn’t know how to communicate that” and acknowledged there were “a lot of things” he did wrong, which set up the relationship to fail from the beginning. He also reflected on his lack of honesty during the early stages with Mandi, saying:

“I would have really said, ‘Hey, I’m actually not ready right now!’ But when you meet someone and you’re like, ‘Man, I really need something special here,’ I can see where everything happened.”

Still, Miguel emphasized that he and Mandi share “a tremendous amount of love” and are working hard not to dwell on what went wrong.

While Miguel is only now sharing the deeper reasons behind the split, the couple had been in on-and-off divorce discussions for some time before finalizing things in July 2023. 

Mandi initiated the divorce process in October 2022 after a year of separation from the “Adorn” artist.

In a joint statement, the former couple shared, “After 17 years together, Miguel and Nazanin Mandi have decided to separate and have been for some time now. The couple both wish each other well.”

With no children involved, the divorce was straightforward and only required a judge’s signature to make it official.

As The Blast reported, their prenuptial agreement already outlined the terms for spousal support and asset division. Although the details were kept private, it is widely believed that Mandi secured a meaningful settlement.

Amid the divorce, Mandi appeared more concerned about personal growth than the end of her marriage.

As The Blast reported, “The Last Conception” actress shared a reflective message on Instagram with an image of what looked like abandoned farmland bordered by a dense forest.

She wrote, “I have decided I’m going to try my best to share my days with you more. I’m so tired of hiding… there’s no need. Here’s to breaking a few walls, patterns, and habits.”

She kept to her promise, sharing another slide showing her enjoying breakfast with a friend as she embraced her new chapter.

Although Miguel only recently revealed the cause of his failed marriage, he has since moved on and also stepped into a new phase of fatherhood.

Two years after his divorce, he welcomed a child with Margaret Zhang.

According to The Blast, he celebrated their daughter’s first birthday on Instagram, marking the first time he publicly shared her existence.

“Our baby turned one today!!!!” he captioned the post, referring to Zhang as “our,” with whom he collaborated on the message. He expressed his love for little Angelito, sharing how proud he and Zhang are to be her parents. The post wasn’t just an introduction, as Miguel also released a new song dedicated to her.

“Papa wrote you a song, hope it always reminds you of how loved you are,” he wrote, encouraging fans to listen and cry. Zhang directed the music video for the song.
