Sean “Diddy” Combs has hit back at the feds over their definition of prostitution, demanding an acquittal or a retrial amid his ongoing legal troubles.
The hip-hop mogul was found guilty of violating the Mann Act, which is a federal law passed in 1910 that seeks to prevent the transportation of any woman or girl into the United States or any state or territory for the purpose of engaging in prostitution or other immoral acts.
However, Sean “Diddy” Combs argues that the feds are using the current definition of “prostitution” and should have gone with what it meant when it was passed 115 years ago.

Why Diddy Is Demanding An Acquittal Or Retrial
Diddy is looking to secure an acquittal or a retrial following his guilty verdict on two counts of prostitution-related charges.
The Bad Boy Records founder was arrested about a year ago and faced trial for charges related to sex trafficking, racketeering, and transportation to engage in prostitution.
He was acquitted on the more serious racketeering and sex trafficking charges but was handed a two-count conviction on the Mann Act.
According to TMZ, his lawyers have submitted a new legal document arguing that the prosecution is using the wrong definition of “prostitution” in his criminal case and are demanding that Judge Arun Subramanian either acquit the music mogul or grant him a new trial.

The Mann Act, also known as the White-Slave Traffic Act, is a federal law passed in 1910 that makes it a federal offense to transport or cause to be transported in interstate or foreign commerce any woman or girl for the purpose of prostitution.
Diddy’s lawyers argue that the court should be using the 1910 definition of the word and not the 2025 definition.
They noted that in 1910, “a prostitute was a woman who had sex outside marriage,” against the prosecution’s position, which suggests that prostitution is sex for hire.

The Rapper Says Feds Didn’t Prove He Paid Male Escorts
Elsewhere in the legal document, the 55-year-old argued that the feds didn’t really prove that he paid male escorts to have sex with his girlfriends, saying they were paid for their time.
He maintains that he only gains sexual pleasure from watching others when they’re naked or engaged in sexual activity, which, according to him, is allowed.
Diddy was accused of hosting drug-fuelled sex orgies known as “freak-offs,” where he allegedly used violence and coercion to force his girlfriends to participate in sexual acts with male escorts.
In their opening statement during his trial, prosecutors shared a horrific claim of Cassie “feeling like she was choking when Diddy made an escort urinate in her mouth” during a “Freak Off,” per the Daily Mail.

They also mentioned that she often overdosed during the sex romp and that the “I’m Coming Home” rapper usually subjects her to physical abuse, as an infamous video showed him slapping, hitting, and kicking her at an L.A. hotel.

Diddy Was Denied Bail Despite His Mixed Verdict
Diddy remains locked up behind bars at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn ahead of his sentencing on October 3rd.
His lawyers requested a $50 million bail bond secured by his Miami mansion, noting that his travel would be limited to the Southern District of Florida, the Southern District of New York for an attorney’s meeting, and the airport he would use to travel between the two.
“Sean Combs should not be in jail for this conduct,” the lawyers emphasized. “In fact, he may be the only person currently in a United States jail for being any sort of john, and certainly the only person in jail for hiring adult male escorts for him and his girlfriend, when he did not even have sex with the escort himself.”
However, his request was denied as Judge Arun Subramanian ruled that he remains a flight risk, adding that Diddy’s propensity for violence was a contributing factor in his decision to keep the rapper locked up.

Donald Trump Feels Pardoning The Rapper Would Be ‘Difficult’
President Trump was reportedly considering a presidential pardon for Diddy amid his legal troubles. However, the move now appears to have been squashed as Trump cited Diddy’s past comments about him.
The billionaire politician said he considers Diddy “sort of half-innocent” but called pardoning him “more difficult” because of past criticism, per The Guardian.
“He was essentially, I guess, sort of half-innocent,” the President told Newsmax host Rob Finnerty. “He was celebrating a victory, but I guess it wasn’t as good a victory.”
What Diddy Said About Trump
Diddy had notably told the Daily Beast in 2017 that he did not “really give a f-ck about Trump,” and in 2020, when his reelection efforts ended in a defeat to President Joe Biden, Diddy told radio host Charlamagne tha God that “white men like Trump need to be banished.”
“The number one priority is to get Trump out of office,” the rapper said.
Trump, in his interview with Newsmax, alluded to Diddy’s past comments.
“When I ran for office, he was very hostile,” Trump said of the “Bad Boy For Life” rapper. “It’s hard, you know? We’re human beings.”

In the meantime, some lawyers for the rapper have noted that they’ve been in touch with the president regarding a potential pardon. However, Diddy’s top lawyer, Marc Agnifilo, distanced himself from the reports about being in talks with Trump about a possible pardon.
