Tom Blyth & Emily Bader Star in Adaptation of Emily Henry Romance

Grab your passport — the first teaser for the highly anticipated adaptation of Emily Henry’s bestselling romance novel, “People We Meet on Vacation,” starring Tom Blyth and Emily Bader, is here. Per Netflix, the film follows “free-spirited” Poppy (Bader) and “routine-loving” Alex (Blyth), longtime best friends who live in different cities, but go on a summer vacation together for nearly a decade. After one trip ends with them not speaking for years, they are brought back together, and must face their unspoken feelings for each other. The trailer shows footage of Blyth’s Alex and Bader’s Poppy on various travel adventures — from enjoying beignets in New Orleans to camping in the woods — while also teasing their friendship becoming something more. The Netflix film — which is directed by Brett Haley — is the first of several planned book-to-screen adaptations of Emily Henry’s romance novels, with the author among the executive producers on the film. “People We Meet on Vacation” also stars Sarah Catherine Hook, Lucien Laviscount, Miles Heizer, Jameela Jamil, Tommy Do, Lukas Gage, Alice Lee, with Molly Shannon and Alan Ruck. The film will be released on Netflix on January 9, 2026.
