Weeks after Sam Asghari subtly dissed Kevin Federline over his upcoming memoir, You Thought You Knew, the former dancer has finally responded.

Asghari was asked by a paparazzo for his thoughts on Federline’s upcoming tell-all. He replied with a subtle jab, saying, “Well, he’s a professional father, so it would be the first book that’ll tell you how to be a professional father.”

Federline was then approached on Wednesday by another paparazzo about Asghari’s remark, and rather than firing back with hostility, the DJ chose to embrace the comment from his fellow ex-husband.

The Memoir Will Chronicle Kevin Federline’s Experience As A Father And Romance With Britney Spears

Unlike Asghari, who shared no children with Spears during their short-lived marriage, Federline welcomed two children, Preston and Jayden, with the singer.

Much of his experience raising their kids will be discussed in the upcoming memoir with the intention of making people finally recognize that “he really stepped up as a father when he needed to.”

“Kevin gave up a lot to give those boys [Preston and Jayden] a semblance of normalcy, and he’s tried to keep his other kids out of the spotlight too,” an insider said about Federline,  per US Weekly.

The source continued, “He wanted to write the book to shed light on what his life was really like behind the scenes because so many people thought he was a deadbeat and he wasn’t.”

Beyond his fatherhood experience, the memoir will also chronicle how he fell in “love at first sight” with Spears and “picking up the pieces after the tumult of their divorce.”

Additionally, the book touches on the years that Spears was placed under her father, Jamie Spears’ conservatorship, despite their marriage having ended at the time.

Britney Spears’ Ex-Husband Doesn’t Attack Her In His Memoir

According to the source, the memoir isn’t in any way a revenge move in response to Spears’ own memoir nearly two years ago.

“This wasn’t an overnight thing that he threw together after Britney came out with her book,” the source said, adding that Federline spent three or four years writing the project.

They added, “He’s never really told his side of the story in depth, and he knows interviews and documentaries can be twisted, so he wanted people to hear it straight from the horse’s mouth.”

A different insider also hinted that Federline “doesn’t attack Britney or get too personal about her life” in the book. Instead, he focuses on his “decisions, feelings, and overcoming challenges” as well as his many attempts “to protect those around him while still navigating his life as best as he could.”
